Step Down Transformer Applications

A step-down transformer is a static device with no moving parts which transmits electrical power from one circuit to another. A step-down transformer reduces the input voltage to suit the device to which it’s transferring the electrical power to i.e. the secondary voltage is lesser than the primary voltage. Some of the main applications of a step-down transformer are as follows:

Used to reduce the voltage level in the transmission line.

Used in welding machines to reduce voltage and increase current.

It makes power transmission easier and cheaper.

It provides 99% efficiency or more.

Used in an induction furnace for melting the metals.

Used in residential complexes to manage the voltage.
