Hermetically Sealed Type Oil Cooled Transformers
Hermetically Sealed Type Oil Cooled Transformer is a maintenance free transformer designed for areas with poor accessibility and where periodic maintenance is nearly impossible. Common examples are chemical plants, oil and gas terminals. The dielectric insulating fluid, usually mineral oil or natural ester oil, in the transformer is hermetically sealed, that is, it has absolutely no contact with air thereby preventing oxidation of the fluid. This transformer is widely used for its compact design, zero maintenance and long life. Hermetically Sealed Type Oil Cooled Transformer are normally manufactured with a sealed tank equipped with fins and devices that measure heat related volume variations. Gas cushion is used to compensate for the volume variation and generally the gas used is nitrogen. The fins allow the expansion at temperature variations. Sealed type transformers have a wide application in a n...
